President's Corner | Q&A with Colin Wylie

Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m originally from British Columbia, Canada but have lived in the United States for more than a decade. I’m married with three children, which keeps our family very busy. We’ve loved exploring Central Ohio and becoming part of the community.
Q: What does your professional background look like?
My career has primarily been in higher education across three institutions, with experience in both external and internal communications. In 2022, we moved to Columbus for my current role as social media manager at The Ohio State University.
Q: What’s your go-to way to recharge outside of work?
If you ever join a video call with me, you’ll probably notice a wall of LEGO sets behind me. I’m a collector and creator, and it’s become my artistic outlet. It’s also turned into a family affair, which makes it even more fun.
Q: What are you reading these days?
I’m a big audiobook fan and always looking for recommendations, especially fantasy or historical fiction. I like to keep things light and use that time to tap into the creative side of my brain — which helps fuel creativity in other areas of my life, including work.
Q: How did you first get involved with PRSA?
I completed my undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University, where I joined PRSSA as a student and quickly saw the value of the network, professional development and leadership opportunities. Over the years, I’ve attended numerous national conferences and served in leadership roles at the chapter and regional levels.
Q: What excites you most about serving as president this year?
PRSA Central Ohio has an incredibly engaged membership and a strong history. I’m excited to build on that foundation by creating more opportunities for connection and growth that members can immediately apply in their work.
Q: What’s one goal you have for members this year?
I hope every member sets a goal to engage at least once — attend an event, reach out to another member or join a conversation. PRSA works best when we show up for one another.
